Let's party!

The tent was amazing, the view was lovely, and the facilities were great. Staff were really friendly too. But people near our tent kept shouting, talking, and making noise on and off all night, right up to 4:30am. The rules say lights out and quiet at 10pm, but that didn't seem to be enforced, and we were sooo tired the next day. Also, if cockroaches scare you, this probably isn't the place for you. There was even one in my bed. The place and staff are great, but the other guests, not so much.

Stayed on the Black Pearl at the end of the year, and the barbecue on the 31st was fun. It wasn't too cold, and there was an amberjack filleting show, with a free plate of sashimi for each of us. The drinks in the fridge were all-you-can-drink, maybe because of the New Year's holiday price!? The mineral water tasted delicious to me, though maybe that was just my imagination. The heater was so warm we turned off two of the three lights. I couldn't get the exterior lock all the way upright, so I wasn't able to lock it. Still, it was great! It was cloudy, so I missed the sunset, but I could see the first sunrise of the year from a distance, either by car or maybe even on foot, through a gap in the clouds.

We stayed in a camper van and had a wonderful time from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind and clearly wanted us to enjoy ourselves, and two dogs at reception came out to greet us. I'd love to return when I'm ready for some time in nature. Our plan included one night and two meals. Dinner was a sea-view barbecue on the deck, with delicious meat and seafood and more food than we could finish. There were rice balls you could grill and pizza too. Watching the sunset while eating was such a treat. Breakfast was delicious as well. The facilities were clean, and even though it was hot, there weren't many insects, so I think glamping beginners would be comfortable here. There are marine activities like SUP and kayaking. Evenings get busy, so it's best to try them soon after checking in. There are baths on-site, or you can use the hot springs at a sister inn about 10 minutes away by car for free. The hot springs were excellent, with an open-air bath and sauna. We could also relax in nature by listening to birds, watching the sunlight come in, and hearing the waves. There were two dogs at reception that even greeted us! Thank you for such a lovely stay.

I was worried a camper van style room in Rotorua might feel cramped, but it had enough space for two. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were wonderfully soft. The toilet is outside, but the design keeps light from leaking out, and there were no insects inside, so I felt safe. The shared sink area had a big mirror too. There's a smoking room, and the cafe turns into a bar at night. I don't drink, but the atmosphere was great. It felt like a real resort: I watched the sunset, listened to the birds, woke up with the sunlight, and heard the waves. Being surrounded by nature was so relaxing. There was plenty to do for free, including SUP, canoeing, and chopping firewood, so families, friends, and couples could all enjoy it. Fishing and making sea glass photo frames were available for a small fee. The food was tasty and surprisingly affordable. Dinner was a barbecue with seafood like scallops, amberjack, and shrimp, along with mountain foods such as venison, Miyazaki beef, and Kagoshima Chami pork. Everything was delicious, and there was more than we could finish. Breakfast was buffet style, with a colorful plate of dishes, plus a choice of rice, bread, fish soup, and different drinks. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back. Thanks for looking after me during my one-night, two-day stay 🌴🛶🪔
