Hotel Matsunoi

The WiFi was painfully slow, but that barely compares with how well Noura treated me. I was sick with a stomach bug after dinner and drinks the night before, dizzy, and dealing with a migraine. I had to check out and travel for hours with 80lbs of luggage, and in that state I just couldn't manage it. Noura helped me feel better and made me as comfortable as she could. She even helped me get medicine because my Japanese isn't good enough for me to confidently ask for it on my own. She was so kind that I felt at home there too. I'll stay again when I'm back in Shinjuku and recommend the place. Thank you so much 🙇

My first hotel in Tokyo, and the staff made me feel more like family than a guest. The kind woman and man were ready to help with a smile at any hour, and their English was very good, which helped since I was new to Japan. If I weren't traveling around the country, I'd have stayed here for the whole trip. It's just down the road from Shin Okubo, and the JR line makes it easy to get to places like Harajuku and Shibuya. The rooms were neat and tidy. They also provide the basics, including toothbrushes and coffee, at the office downstairs.

There's no elevator, but Alan at the front desk kindly carried my luggage upstairs. Nora was also very welcoming, always smiling, and gave great service. The rooms were clean and nice, and the location is handy, just one stop from Shinjuku.

The room was clean and nicely presented, though small, as you'd expect in Japan. It was good value and suited a solo traveler well. You're right in Korea town with lots of good food nearby, and the hotel has good transport links from its central location. Staff were friendly, though English wasn't widely spoken. Noura, who does speak English, was lovely and helped me with local tips and directions for onward travel. There's no lift, but staff were happy to help, so it wasn't a deal breaker. I'd definitely stay again.
