Niigata Terminal Hotel

I stay here fairly often for business trips to Niigata. The building is old, but I like retro things, so the aged lobby and room chairs have a charm to them. One downside is how much noise carries: I can hear people talking in the hallway and loud snoring from the next room. The snoring is especially bothersome. I'd appreciate it if they could separate the men's and women's floors as much as possible, though I imagine that's hard since there are so many more men than women. I've been helped by several front desk staff, from a cute young woman to a gentle-mannered man, and everyone gave excellent service. For the amenities women may be most interested in, there are pouches by the front desk with single-use amounts of lotion, milk, facial cleanser, and hair pack. The shampoo in the room bathrooms is a rinse-in type. The cleansing products are wipes, so you may want to bring your own if that concerns you. I was glad to find a fairly sturdy hair dryer in my room. Some hotels have tiny, toy-like dryers. From other people's reviews and photos, though, it seems the dryer may vary from room to room. There's no air conditioning control in the room, since the whole building is air-conditioned. I get cold easily, so it felt a little chilly, but the front desk lent me a blanket, which was a relief. The number of blankets is limited. There are instant coffee, sugar, milk, and tea by the front desk. I could boil water in the kettle in my room and make coffee in the morning. ☕️ Late at night or early in the morning, drunk people sometimes let out strange screams that might wake you up. I guess that's unavoidable given the location, which is very convenient. I couldn't use it this time, but I saw a flyer about free use of a public bath near the south exit. I'd definitely like to try it next time. I didn't read the flyer closely, so I may have got that wrong. 🙇‍♀️ The price, location, and service worked for me, and I'd like to stay here again. 😊
