It’s a quiet place to stay near Nikko’s historic center, with the shrines and temples close by. You can also drive to Lake Chuzenji, waterfalls, and other nature spots. We had a corner room with a lovely view of the river and trees, and it was surprisingly spacious by Japanese standards. The building is a little old and the room felt chilly, but there was AC, a separate heater, and warm blankets. The in-room bathroom is quite cramped. There are two shared baths that can be booked for private use, and a yukata is provided during your stay. There’s a large dining room with free tea, instant coffee, hot water, cups, and utensils. You can order breakfast or bring your own food, and guests share a common fridge. The hotel also has coin laundry, best used before 9 pm, though the dryer is extremely slow. We ended up using a separate coin laundry in town instead. The owners were very friendly and gave us little gifts when we left. A great base for exploring Nikko.

I was there for two nights in February and had the whole place to myself, even the private onsen. It’s a lovely little ryokan on the outskirts of Nikko. The family who run it were warm and friendly, and both my room and futon were comfortable and warm. I’d happily return.

It’s a very quiet, comfortable ryokan with an onsen, and they provide a yukata for your stay. Just remember it isn’t a gift, so leave it in the room. The location might feel far from the town center and shrines, and even walking to the nearest bus stop can take 10-15 minutes.

The staff were friendly and gave us tips on nearby restaurants and when to visit different places. The rooms were clean, fairly spacious, and had fly screens, so we didn’t have trouble with insects. There are two private onsen baths that lock from the inside. Breakfast needs to be booked and paid for separately. It’s more European in style but uses local ingredients, and was delicious.

The room was very clean and comfortable, and there’s a bath to enjoy. Inside, they have lots of adorable collections. The host was really friendly and shared plenty of suggestions for attractions and dinner nearby. Toshogu Shrine and other sights are conveniently within walking distance.
