Hotel Piena Kobe

After the check-in incident, the hotel manager contacted us personally and gave a sincere apology. They said the staff member involved would be properly retrained so this wouldn’t happen again. I was impressed by how quickly and professionally management responded. Everyone else we dealt with was very kind and helpful, too. The room was spacious, the bathroom very clean, and breakfast was truly delicious. Thanks to the manager’s effort to resolve things, we left with a positive impression of Hotel Piena Kobe. The facilities are great, and I’d recommend it for its responsible management. Before that resolution, though, check-in was deeply upsetting. After my husband paid and signed on the machine, a male staff member kept asking him to sign again without checking the system. My husband tried to follow the repeated instructions, and the staff member suddenly shouted, “The machine is going to break!!!” We were cooperating, but were treated as if we were aggressive customers. Shouting at guests over his own mistake was unacceptable and spoiled our final memories of Japan. At the time, I felt the hotel lacked basic professionalism unless that employee was disciplined and retrained. I’d never had such rude reception service, and I couldn’t recommend staying there.

The calm, cosy French-style breakfast room was a lovely change from the huge buffet halls you get at larger hotels. We spent two relaxed hours there chatting and enjoying the atmosphere. I came especially for the breakfast, which is known for its generous, high-quality spread, and it lived up to that reputation. There was roast beef, smoked duck, plenty of breads, petite desserts, and individually wrapped chocolates, all thoughtfully arranged. The coffee was excellent, too. I’m already looking forward to visiting again.

It was an okay stay. The hotel’s close to the train station and izakayas, which was handy. The room was a little small, and the refrigerator was warm. I skipped breakfast because it seemed too expensive and not worth getting up early for.

The front desk responded quickly and provided service in English. I left my jacket in the closet, and they found it and mailed it to me. Really appreciate everyone’s help. The room was large, and the breakfast was perfect, easily five-star standard. Best service and breakfast in Japan. Everything was perfect.
