Everyone's House Nikko

This traditional Japanese house is beautiful and atmospheric, with plenty of room, especially for two people. It's for exclusive use, and there's both a washer-dryer and a kitchen. The owner labeled all the appliances and controls in English, which was helpful. It was cold inside. Even after heating for several hours, the ground floor where we slept stayed around 14-15 degrees Celsius, and there were no heating mats. The house is showing wear and needs updating. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and the owner never replied when I contacted them through Booking.com.

The beds had only been made up downstairs, though there are bedrooms upstairs too. That's a shame when you've paid for the whole house. It might help to ask guests which beds they'd like prepared. The house is old, which is fine, but it was quite cold despite the heating. We also had trouble spotting the entrance. Arriving by car, we couldn't see the sign from the direction we were driving and had to search for it.
