The private outdoor bath was a wonderful extra, and our room was clean and very spacious. Breakfast and dinner came with our stay, and both were delicious every day. Gasthof Ami is well placed for enjoying the spectacular scenery nearby. We got around entirely on foot and by public transit, which worked great. Downtown Nikko is a pleasant 1 hour walk, and the bus stop is 5 or 10 minutes away on foot. Kegan Falls, Lake Chuzenji, Yudaki, and Yumoto are all easy to reach by bus. We’d highly recommend both Gasthof Ami and the Nikko area.

The food was amazing, some of the best I’ve had at a pension. We had a great time here in Nikko. The rooms were spacious and nice, with two bathrooms, and easily fit all 5 adults in our group. The open-air onsen was especially nice in winter. I’d recommend this place to anyone in the area.

We really enjoyed the small private onsen, it was an incredible experience. The service was amazing, too, and the rooms were clean and big. Great place for a reasonable price!

The dinner was fantastic and delicious. Rooms are spacious, with a living area and 2 bathrooms. Housekeeping and management were excellent. Highly recommended.
