The staff were incredibly helpful, even with the language barrier. We loved having so much room after staying in compact hotels, and the villa is surrounded by trees. I expected the stone bathroom to feel chilly, but it held the shower steam well and stayed warm. The onsen water seems to be very hot in the afternoon, then cools gradually. At 5 pm it was too hot for me to get in; by 8 pm it was starting to feel cool. On the last night, 7 pm was just right.

We loved being able to use the Onsen privately at night. The villa is roomy and has the feel of a traditional Japanese home, plus there’s a game room with table tennis and other games. It isn’t too far from the train station, though attractions may be inconvenient if you’re short on time. I’d happily recommend it and return.

The place matched the photos, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. We had a really good time and would love to come back if we visit Nikko again. Highly recommend it. There are lots of trees around the accommodation, so it’s natural for insects to sometimes get into the room. They provide insect spray, and it wasn’t an issue for us.

The rooms were very clean and the area was peaceful, with a nice mountain view. The price was good, and the staff were kind even though we speak very little Japanese. I’d pick this place again if I return to the area.
