Narusawa Lodge

We only stayed one night with friends, but the owner made us feel very welcome even though he was away for family reasons when we arrived. He left a note with an estimate of when he’d be back and invited us to make ourselves at home. After we returned from seeing Nikko’s shrines and temples, he showed us around the Lodge. We had drinks together that evening, heard some stories about the area, and got tips for the next leg of our trip. In the morning he drove us to the train station so we didn’t have to walk to the city centre. I’d recommend Narusawa Lodge, especially for the friendly owner and good service.

From the rooms, the landscape view is amazing. The house is comfortable and warm even in winter, and the rooms are quite spacious. The shared lobby and dining room are well equipped. The bathroom is shared but very large, and there’s one toilet on each floor of the two-storey house. Both Nikko Tobu Station and Nikko JR Station are 10-15 minutes away on foot. The owner is kind, always available, and gave us lots of good advice for visiting Nikko.

We had the lodge’s large room, with four bunk beds and its own bathroom complete with an onsen. The owner was incredibly friendly and even drove us to and from the train station. Awesome place to stay, and I’d highly recommend this lodge for a visit to Nikko.

The owner was great, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. They offer a free lift for you and your luggage from the station, plus a tour to a local onsen every evening. A very nice place to stay.
