Nikkorisou Backpackers

Hiro was a real treasure, so kind, helpful, and artistic. Our private Japanese-style room for two was wonderful, affordable, and our favorite place so far on this trip. The other guests were friendly and quiet, and the shared shower was surprisingly lovely. The outdoor luggage lockers were a lifesaver, too. Great location and good vibes.

I’ve stayed at Nikkorisou a couple of times now, and I’ll be back. It feels like being at home, especially when you’re playing cards and having a few beers in the common area. The accommodation is really cool, and Hiro is an absolute legend with loads of information about the local area.

The owner was friendly and caring, and the hostel felt cozy. The communal area backs onto a beautiful river, and I was comfortable in the female dorm, though I wouldn’t have felt as comfortable in the bed that’s open to the rest of the room. Check-in is at 4pm, which could be awkward if you have large luggage. I only had a backpack, so it didn’t bother me. The price felt fair, especially on what was probably their busiest weekend, and I’d definitely return. It’s in a perfect spot, right by the entrance to the temples and the bridge, as well as the main street with lots of shops and restaurants.

The late check-in was the one downside, though I understand the situation. The hostel is nicely decorated, and the Japanese room was beautiful and comfortable. The location is great. Thank you!
