The owner couple were so friendly and sweet, and their English was pretty good. They made us an amazing dinner, one of the best meals of our Japan trip, and we’d definitely recommend trying it. We also appreciated being allowed to use the in-house onsens despite our tattoos. I loved the hotel’s interior and little details, and after two nights I wished we could have stayed longer. We were there in mid-February between ski days at Geto Kogen. Winter seemed much quieter than the other seasons, which was exactly what we wanted after downtown Morioka. The mountain village was beautiful and peaceful, and the old-fashioned ryokan felt like stepping back into the 1980s. I’m taking off one star because some facilities could use a deep clean, replacement, or repairs. Still, I’d stay again because the rest made up for that.

Both meals were served in our renovated, clean guest room, and the food was very good. The water is a completely natural hot spring, with no circulation. It was clear and had a slight wood smell. There’s a large private bath, as well as public baths.

The food was incredible, and they brought it to my tatami room and explained each dish in detail. After skiing, the onsen soothed my tired muscles. I was travelling alone in midwinter, so it was very quiet, but the couple running the hotel treated me kindly and made me feel welcome. When I drove off, they came out to the street and bowed and waved until I was out of sight. It felt like a real display of the hospitality of this country.

The interior has been renovated, and the staff were both professional and extremely friendly. The food was delicious too. I’d absolutely recommend this place if you want a traditional Japanese ryokan experience at an affordable price.

I went in December 2025 for my first visit, hoping to take it easy somewhere close by for winter. The inn was bigger than I expected. Breakfast rice was really good, and the bath felt amazing. I couldn’t quite tell whether the shower was giving hot or cold water. I’m thinking of coming back in spring.
