Nobeoka Dai-ichi Hotel

I stayed because the hotels closer to the station were outrageously priced for not much better quality. This place is in a side alley, a good 15 minutes' walk from the station. Rooms, service and ofuro are all very basic. The medium-sized men's ofuro can hold about 6-7 people.

The reception lady kindly gave me tape to repair my bag, which was sitting on my bicycle rack. I also appreciated being able to lock my bike to the water pipe outside. Breakfast is served at the adjacent restaurant. For the price, the hotel offers good value while still having the amenities I needed.

The staff at reception and the person serving breakfast were both courteous, and there was plenty of parking, so I had no concern about my car getting hit. The hotel is inexpensive and good, but the large bath was so hot I couldn't get in. Around 38-40 degrees would have been fine. I stayed in room 515 and, at night, heard water dripping from the ceiling every 13 or 15 seconds. I started counting and couldn't sleep, haha. Thank you!

This place has a nostalgic Showa-era business hotel feel, and a non-smoking single room costs 5,000 yen, about what it did 35 years ago. The rooms were clean, there was a large public bath, and I had no complaints. You can get a newspaper for free. Just be aware that the rooms don't have auto-locks.
