It’s a great spot for the ski fields, and there are shops nearby for dinner. There’s also a very good onsen right across the street. I’d recommend including breakfast.

A good place to stay.

The inn’s outside and rooms were fairly ordinary, so at first I was thinking three stars. But our double room booking became a triple room when one more friend joined on arrival, and the hostess kindly made that work. She looked a bit stern at first, but was warm-hearted and spoke a little English. The host was friendly too, greeting us with a smile, though he couldn’t speak English. Breakfast and dinner were included, with different dishes each day and plenty of variety. We had several bowls of rice with meals, and my friend especially loved the hamburger steak. It was a very worthwhile stay for the money. The location is close to the ski resort entrance, so getting around was easy. There’s a hot spring across the street, and the inn lent us bathing sets to take there. On our last day, after skiing, the hostess let me take a bath before leaving. I’m really grateful 🙏❤️

For a ski trip, this is my personal favorite. It’s a Showa-era modern guesthouse, so anyone after the newest facilities and style might prefer somewhere else. Akiba no Yu, the outdoor bath, is only a three-second walk away, and the ski gondola is nearby. The hostess can seem shy, but she’s actually very kind. The home-grown rice is mysteriously delicious, and you can buy seasonal home-grown vegetables at bargain prices.
