We weren’t guests at the accommodation, but my husband had read about their vegetarian set menu and stopped by a few days ahead to reserve dinner. The meal was generous and very good value, with simple dishes cooked beautifully. We hadn’t realized we’d booked on a public holiday, but they still welcomed us. The room was plain and quaint, and our host was so lovely. A really excellent set dinner.

The owners were nice and the hotel suited my focused training trip. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the Nagasaka Gondola, which was fine by me. I was unsure about the vegetarian-only food at first, since I hadn’t eaten much vegetarian food in Japan, but it turned out to be a good experience. There was real variety and care in the dishes, so meals didn’t get boring. It was my first snowboarding training trip where I managed to maintain my weight, since I didn’t drink too much 🤣 My room was clean, with a pleasant tatami smell. It had a bathroom and toilet, but no washlet, which didn’t bother me. A decent hotel with vegetarian cuisine only.

The meal felt like a work of art. The Japanese couple put so much care into making a beautiful dinner, and the table was set wonderfully. It’s a quirky place rather than a fancy restaurant, but we loved the whole meal. Fabulous vegetarian food, with vegan options too.

There’s a public bath for guests, and every room has its own bathtub too, though neither is an onsen. You can also use the 13 public baths in Nozawa Onsen for free. A really cozy Japanese inn for vegetarians. The owner served an incredible dinner and breakfast with no meat or fish. I was surprised!

We had a wonderful two-night stay. Thanks for taking such good care of us :) I’d definitely recommend staying here in Nozawa Onsen.
