The owner was polite and accommodating, and could shuttle us and our luggage to and from the local bus station that connects to the nearest train station. The place was very clean and spacious, meals were plentiful, and I’d highly recommend it.

The building was kept in lovely condition, which made it easy to relax after a day of cycling. I enjoyed the food, especially the freshly harvested rice. It was so sweet that even Niigata residents, who are particular about rice, were impressed. The indoor bath is small, but the water was just the right temperature and felt great. The outdoor bath is close by too, which was convenient.

We’ve been returning for around 30 years, and for our family Mikawaya and Nozawa Onsen go together. It’s a very homey inn, with delicious homemade food, including Koshihikari rice and Nozawa pickles. The owner’s thoughtfulness adds a lovely touch to the trip, and the reasonable prices are another plus. 🎵🎵
