Nozawa Dream

The price was like a luxury hotel, but the service and facilities felt hostel-level. The baths were broken and unusable. During our five nights, we didn’t get fresh towels or sheets. Bins in the public areas were often full, even where the manager could see them. There was no food available, and the frosted windows onto the hallway meant the room never got fully dark. I wouldn’t stay here again.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful the staff were. They stored our bags after we sent them to nozawa dream a day early, then had them in our rooms when we arrived. On the first run of our first day, out of an eight-day stay, I fractured my leg. Taxis were fully booked, so the staff drove me to my appointments and were kind and accommodating while I couldn’t walk. The rooms and shared bathrooms were clean, and breakfast was amazing, with something different every day. The slopes were close enough that my husband and four kids never complained about the walk. Highly recommend!

It’s a friendly traditional hotel, and the staff made us comfortable throughout. Our room had a futon on tatami, and it was comfortable; the toilets and showers were clean. The bathroom is shared. The ski lifts are about a ten-minute uphill walk away. The town centre, restaurants, and public onsen are all just a few minutes on foot.

There’s a shared area with tea, hot water, and a heater, plus breakfast with unlimited toast, juice, and coffee. They also have discounted lift passes and gear hire. The location is handy, close to the lifts. The rooms are traditional Japanese style with tatami mat beds. Four of us were a bit squeezed, though it wasn’t too bad. I enjoyed staying here and would come back.
