The house was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and it was an easy walk to both the slopes and town. I had a lovely stay, and got to spend some time with two adorable little dogs too.

The photos don't really show how nice peanuts is. We had a wonderful time, with clean, warm, spacious rooms, friendly hosts, a good location, and a relaxing onsen. The bedding could have been more breathable.

The tatami and futon room was clean and fairly priced. The owner was lovely and very accommodating. It's about a 15-minute walk uphill to the main gondola, and the bus stop for Iiyama is a four-minute walk away.

The little common areas include one with Japanese manga you can read. Our room was spacious, with a traditional futon, and the lodge has a cozy, family ski getaway kind of feel. For an affordable snow lodge, the amenities were better than I expected, and the bath was fantastic. Bathrooms are shared on each floor. The showers and baths are downstairs, open from 7 to 9 in the morning, then again from 3:30 pm until about 10 at night.

It's a humble place, but warm and welcoming, with a fantastic onsen and great service from the owners. The location is fairly close to Nozawaonsen Ski Resort. This has been one of my best stays in Japan, and I'd definitely recommend it.
