The food was really nice, both breakfast and dinner, and the staff were friendly even though their English wasn’t good. The pillow was small and uncomfortable, and the shower room was cramped and uncomfortable too. You need to be back at the hotel by 11 pm and finish showering by 9 pm. The gondola is a little far away, though the shuttle isn’t far.

Although the inn seems geared toward skiers and tourists, I stayed there for work and had a pleasant time. The couple who run it were very friendly, and the food was delicious with generous portions. I especially liked their homemade rice. Since it was available to buy, I took some home. I’d definitely stay again if I get the chance.

The food was so good it made up for the drawbacks. It was home cooking, but far better than what I’d call everyday home quality, and the portions were generous. If a set-meal restaurant this good opened in my neighborhood, I’d go every day. It’s a cheap guesthouse for regular skiers, with shared bathrooms and toilets. The place is clean, though service is very basic. Getting to Nagasaka and Karasawa involves quite a bit of walking, which is tough in ski boots. I only wish they’d put teacups in the rooms.

I found it easy to drive to this inn, which has plenty of parking and is close to the center of the hot spring town. The staff were very kind, and I had a really pleasant stay while skiing in Nozawa Onsen. I’ll definitely stay here again.
