Kamon Inn Kotobuki

A great place to stay while you're in Izumi.

I found Come on Inn Kotobuki a comfortable place to settle into local life for a while. The private rental felt like visiting a friend's home. It had the basics for everyday living, including a fridge, microwave, rice cooker, and washing machine, and I rarely ran into any inconvenience. The kitchen was well equipped enough for shopping nearby and making simple meals. The station is easy to reach, and there’s a supermarket, 100-yen shop, and restaurants close by. It’s in a quiet residential area, but everything you need is still within easy reach, even for a longer stay. Self check-in meant little interaction with staff, which suited me. I could just relax and chat with family and friends, a real break from busy everyday life. The place isn’t large or flashy, but it feels warm and thoughtfully cared for, with sincere Japanese hospitality. If I visit Izumi again, I’d recommend staying here. It can feel like coming home.

There’s a parking space right in front of the door. Inside, the place is spacious, clean, and tidy, with two single beds and a tatami room. The kitchen has a fridge and induction cooker. The tatami room gets very cold in winter, and both the separate toilet and bathroom are cold too.

The house is in a handy spot for exploring Izumi City. Plenty of restaurants and cafes are within walking distance, and there’s a McDonald's across the street. Several big supermarkets are a five-minute drive away. For light cooking, there’s a single-burner stove and basics like soy sauce, salt, sugar, and cooking oil. The bathrooms look a bit unusual but are spacious enough for both a bath and shower. Two large hot springs are within a five-minute drive, handy for morning or evening visits. It’s about 15-20 minutes to a place with crane views, and around 10 minutes to the samurai residences. The house layout is interesting. A four-and-a-half-tatami room and a two-bedroom bedroom sit beside each other, with a central door between them. The living room and kitchen are similarly sized, separated from the bedroom by a central door and from the tatami room by a wall. Between the kitchen and living room, only traces of a central door remain, with no door there now. You get the front door code by email, but at first it was hard to enter the right number. Check whether to press the upper or lower numbers. The main drawback was the cold. Winter nights felt colder than in typical accommodations. The tatami room had no separate heater and was far from the bedroom heater, so we closed it off and used it for luggage. There was an electric blanket in the living room. At night, we moved the table into the kitchen and spread the blanket on top, which kept us warm. There are signs warning that oil-fired heaters need ventilation and must be turned off while sleeping. I think it’s a great place to stay.
