Numazu Club is registered as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, and the grounds feel like a quiet hideaway from the busy world. The historic buildings, traditional Japanese garden, wabi-sabi-style water basin, and carefully kept greenery all create a peaceful atmosphere. I visited Numazu on a weekend during a short work trip to Tokyo about two years ago, and fell in love with the area. My stay here became one of the most memorable hotel experiences I’ve had. The room was wonderfully relaxing, especially the open-air bath. Sitting on the balcony and looking out over all that greenery was so calming. Dinner and breakfast were both Japanese-style Chinese cuisine, beautifully presented and full of flavor. I’d love to visit again.

The staff were friendly and capable, and the restaurant and wine list turned out to be a pleasant surprise for the quality and value. I enjoyed the calm, comfortable setting, the sound of the sea, and the view of Fuji san from our room. The facility is beautifully designed and relaxing. I recommend it wholeheartedly and will visit again on my travels.

We stayed in a western-style room on the second floor, with plenty of space, a Japanese and western mix of design, and a large balcony overlooking the hotel grounds. It was very well maintained and had a full set of quality amenities. The garden was beautiful, too, and made for a lovely stroll. My husband and I stayed at Numazu Club Oct 2 - 3, and enjoyed the hotel in every way. The architecture and grounds were gorgeous. Dinner and breakfast were a real treat: the restaurant is inside a historical Japanese tea house, and the food combines Japanese and Szechuan cuisine in a way that brings out the best of both. The staff made us feel so welcome, especially general manager Imai-san, who went out of their way to help. Imai-san showed us a hidden path to the Senbonhama beach for great ocean and Mt Fuji views. After dinner, our waiter kindly gave us a tour of the traditional Japanese tea house.

The staff made our stay feel like home, and the manager set a standard of care that’s hard to find. The hotel’s architecture, elegant interiors, and peaceful gardens are beautiful, and the rooms were impressive too. My husband and I came to Numazu Club on our first trip to Japan, looking for a quiet break between Tokyo and Kyoto. It was more than we expected. Maybe it stood out because we’d been in busy cities, or because Numazu felt so authentic with hardly any tourists around, but it became the highlight of our trip. Breakfast was a feast, whether we chose Chinese or Japanese, with lovely presentation and plenty of flavor. Having it in the historic ryokan setting made it feel even more special. I’m so grateful to the staff. Memories are the best souvenirs, and we came away with some of our most treasured ones.

A hidden gem, with an authentic feel and impressive surroundings. Being here made me think about how traditionally Japanese people lived close to nature and how practical they were as minimalists. Thanks as well for the great hospitality from the current generation of Japanese!
