The house is in a handy spot for Mt Fuji, Oshino Hakkai, Fuji Q Highland, and Lake Kawaguchiko, with a great view of Mt Fuji itself. There's a supermarket and places to eat nearby too. The bus and train station is 15-20 minutes away, so I'd suggest renting a car. A van might be awkward to maneuver in the open space in front, though it can be done. We got the whole house, and it was very clean, even the front yard. It's a lovely traditional Japanese home with tatami mats and sliding paper doors, plus newer glass doors and a front door for security. The air conditioning was a blessing in Japan's warm August weather. We'd recommend it and would rent it again if we return to Japan.

We were charged almost ¥100,000 as a punishment because we hadn't listed the guests' names, and we didn't know about that rule. How can guests be made to pay that? This feels like a scam. So weird!!!

The house is traditional, which was fine, but it was very hard to reach the owner. The reception is supposedly open 24 hours, yet even between 7-8 p.m. the contact number was never answered.

Top place to get immersed in Japanese culture. It's not far from the station.
