松永六感 藤屋 Matsunaga Rokkan Fujiya

I loved the interiors, the garden framed by the window, and the summer dinner, which was all vegetable dishes. The morning meditation was amazing as well. At 7 am we walked to a nearby temple, where a priest explained the religion and taught us how to meditate in Japanese. The Buddha statues were impressive, and some are designated important cultural properties.

The vegetables were great, and the setting was wonderful. The staff did their best to meet every need. I'd love to visit again!

The inn's staff were attentive, and I had a very comfortable stay. I was sorry to arrive too late for the farm experience, so that's something I'd like to try next time. The lounge was relaxing, with herbal tea and alcohol in the evenings, and there were carefully chosen books in both the room and lounge. I enjoyed some, though I didn't have much time to read. I came for the vegetarian food and meditation at neighboring Myotsuji Temple. The dinner was a real highlight: each course had its own flavors and aromas. "Today's Garden" brought together more than ten vegetables, prepared in different ways, including with salt, so you could taste each one. The broad beans and grilled bamboo shoots in the main course were hearty and flavorful. Breakfast was an elaborately prepared vegetarian meal, and the next day's Ajikan meditation was wonderful. At Myotsuji Temple I could take my time viewing the national treasure, the three-story pagoda, and the Yakushi Nyorai statue up close. I'd imagined the place would be more like temple lodging, but it felt more like an auberge. My Japanese-style room was near the river, whose sound was pleasant. The modern mattress and firm pillows made for a comfortable night's sleep.

The creative vegetarian food was delicious, made with unusual vegetables. It's a relaxing inn in a peaceful natural setting, and the staff were helpful, explaining everything we needed to know about the farm. The morning meditation at Myozuji Temple was a great experience. I'd recommend staying here if you're traveling to Obama.
