There are only stairs, and the floor creaks. The kitchen is small, but the showers are good and it’s quiet, though you’ll want earplugs if people are snoring. A typical hostel, small but adequate.

The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The location is just right, about a 5-7 minute walk from the Odawara bus and railway station.

I booked this hostel at the last minute for a quick trip from Tokyo and enjoyed my one night there. The owner was very kind and came over to check me in, even though he wasn’t usually there because of the coronavirus. The room was very affordable, especially for a same-day booking, and the facilities were good. It was clean and stocked with kitchen equipment, plus body soap and shampoo in the shower. It’s right near the train station, though the neighborhood has a lot of hostess clubs and isn’t the best. That didn’t bother me since I only needed somewhere to sleep. I’d come back if I’m in the area.

We barely got any sleep and ended up with headaches from being so tired. The bars in the same building played loud music at night, and on weekends we could hear and sometimes feel it until 6-7 AM. People were also noisy after 11 PM every night, with no apparent enforcement. The curtains are too short to give privacy, and they don’t block the light. There’s barely enough in the way of facilities, nowhere to put luggage, and no way to keep valuables safe. We just wanted a place to sleep and chose it for the location and reviews saying it was quiet at night. It’s cheap and near Shinkansen/Odawara Station, but we can’t recommend the hostel at all.
