The walls are a little thin, so noise from the upstairs kitchen can reach the neighboring rooms. It can get pretty cold in winter too, and you’ll need to switch on the portable heater. Even so, I’d recommend this guest house if you’re dropping into Udewara. It’s clean and well maintained, check-in was easy, and the service team were on hand for questions. One of them kindly helped us call to book the onsen.

The location was great, about ten minutes from both the ocean, or bay, and the train station. They even provide free Japanese-style pajamas, and the room had the toiletries we needed. You could also take a face towel as a souvenir. The bathroom schedule during busy hours kept things organized, and there were several toilets on different floors. The shared bathroom was spacious and comfortable, and the huge room felt like a palace. The kitchen had every kind of dishware you could think of. Everything was so well thought out, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I absolutely loved this place and am thrilled with the stay. Highly recommend!

We’re a traveling family with two 11-year-old boys, and we’ve stayed in ryokans before. We’d never seen a room this large for a family. Its size and incredible design made the place feel luxurious. The instructions were simple: keep your voices down and enjoy the upstairs kitchen and terrace. The staff were super welcoming and made us feel at home.

We didn’t mind sharing facilities at all since everything was kept impeccably clean and tidy. The rooms were stylish and comfortable, and the lovely staff made us feel welcome. It’s a stylish hotel with a mix of Japanese and European vintage design. Thank you!
