Tenseien Odawara Station Annex

The hotel is in a very convenient spot right next to Odawara Shinkensen Station. Getting to its front desk through the shopping mall can be difficult, though, since the mall closes around 8-9 pm.

The front desk service was terrible, and the staff seemed like zombies. The Wi-Fi was a joke, so I had to use my phone data. There was train noise very late at night too. Unacceptable in 2026.

Tensein Annex came through when I needed somewhere at the last minute, after dark on the same day, and other places were already full. I got a great place to sleep and found out they have a public bath on the tenth floor using water from a Hakone source. The communal bath has an open-air section overlooking Odawara Castle. A truly memorable experience that I’ll always treasure.

We could get here directly from the train station through level 3 of Lusca mall, and buses and trains from here to Hakone are covered by the Hakone Freepass. The Shinkansen also comes directly from Tokyo. With food options close by, a great breakfast, and an onsen available for a small fee, it worked very well as a base for Hakone day trips. It’s more accessible than hotels in Hakone. Our family of six, including three young kids and a helper, fit in one room with three beds, which was extremely useful.
