Utility Hotel Cooju

We had a spacious, luxurious suite. I liked watching TV while enjoying the jacuzzi bath. The TV also let us watch YouTube, and it was a plus that rental hair irons were available. The sandwiches and coffee at breakfast were delicious. The hotel is close to the station, with a convenience store on the first floor and a Don Quijote right across the street.

My workplace is near here, so I use this hotel when I get home late and have to be up early the next day. It works as both a love hotel and a business hotel. I’ve only stayed in the compact rooms, but for the price I’m satisfied. I’m just there to sleep, so cleanliness is enough for me. The location is convenient, right in front of the station, with a Don Quijote nearby and a convenience store on the first floor. I smoke, so I appreciate that smoking is allowed, though they don’t separate smoking and non-smoking rooms, which could bother people who dislike cigarettes. I didn’t notice the cigarette smell I’ve found in smoking rooms at other hotels.

It’s the closest hotel to Kawagoe Station, which you can see right from the window. The room is compact but clean, comfortable, and functional. There’s a convenience store downstairs, and the juice vending machine at reception is cheap.

I won’t be back. I picked this hotel for its proximity to the station, and it does have restaurants nearby, a convenience store on the first floor, and a Don Quijote right next door. But I knew going in that the single room felt like a love hotel, including the glass-enclosed shower, and there were no non-smoking rooms. My room had an odd disinfectant or Lysol-like smell, so I wouldn’t recommend it for women. The road nearby has high tolls, and bars stay open late, with some people getting rowdy, so it’s not a good fit if you want to sleep early. There are lots of cars and motorcycles around Kawagoe with loud exhausts, and the soundproofing isn’t particularly good, making it quite noisy. Noise from inside the building or the next room didn’t bother me, though. I can’t say if this was just my experience, but a nearby bird-loving establishment seemed to have birds chirping unbelievably loudly, even at night. Between that and the noise in my room, I couldn’t sleep. I’ve rarely stayed somewhere with noise this loud. There’s another older hotel in Kawagoe called The Business Hotel, and if you just need somewhere to stay, I’d recommend that one.
