Art Hotel Oita

The staff's kindness was the best part. They were fantastic, and the hotel felt very friendly. Breakfast was nice, and the rooms, while a bit dated, were mostly well kept. It is somewhat far from the train station, restaurants, and even convenience stores.

We had a comfortable room, though it was a little small, and the breakfast was amazing. The Wi-Fi was quick and simple to use, and we enjoyed coffee on arrival. After exploring Kumamoto and Aso, we stayed in Oita just to sleep before catching the ferry to Shikoku, so we didn't see much of the city.

The room and towels were very dusty, which was awful for me as someone with a dust allergy. The air purifier smelled bad too, like the humidifier water hadn't been changed in a long time. That's why this is a three-star stay for me, though it's still a good hotel for a short visit and the location is perfect. The rooms have been renovated and newly furnished. It's an eco-hotel, so disposable items aren't replaced until they've all been used. You can pay for parking at the front desk, but be warned that only low vehicles can park. They also offer a free coffee or champagne welcome gift.

We're in Oita! Saying that in a funny accent is so fun. Anyway, this hotel was amazing, a 10/10 for the price. The welcome champagne made up for the cigarette smell.
