Hotel Crown Hills Oita

There’s a washing machine and dryer on the ground floor, and they let you leave your luggage before check-in or after checkout. The staff are kind and ready to help with information. The hotel is well placed near Oita’s bus and train stations. My standard room was clean, comfortable, and had what I needed. Breakfast offered plenty of tasty choices.

The free breakfast buffet is pretty nice, and the indoor bath is acceptable. I didn’t think the outdoor bath was worth much. The facilities feel dated and could be cleaner. Brown hot spring water runs through the whole place, even the shower in the room, and I’m not sure that was really thought through.

Good location and a nice price, though the building is somewhat old.

The sauna was my main reason for coming, and it was mild at first. Once the heater came on halfway through, though, it felt hotter than 100°C. After sweating it out, I cooled off in the gently cold bath and felt great. The big public bath’s water was a little hot, but the spring quality was excellent and felt very much like Oita Prefecture. I nearly stayed in the bath too long before heading to the sauna. I was here for a business trip. The hotel is a bit old but kept clean and in good condition, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. My single room was compact, but comfortable for me. The room bathtub was small, though having the large public bath meant that wasn’t much of a problem. The free breakfast was more balanced and tastier than I expected. It’s near downtown, with a Hotto Motto and a convenience store close by, so getting what I needed was easy. I was very satisfied and would stay here again.
