The artistic interior and striking staircase with its concrete pillars really stood out to me. I stayed one night at Jonathan Hasegawa, reached by streetcar from Okayama Station, in a charming townscape. Check-in was contactless, and the unusual three-dimensional space made a strong first impression. The architecture has a local feel and made it a relaxing place to experience Okayama culture. One thing, though: I struggled to find the switch. The rooms and facilities seem complex, so some leaflets or a service explaining the different areas would make the stay more useful.

Watching the light change between check-in at dusk and waking up in the morning made me happy. It felt like staying inside a museum, and the views of the Asahikawa and Korakuen from the property were wonderful. The big staircase is a little steep, but it gives you the feeling of climbing toward the sky, so I didn't mind having that kind of stay. I'd like to try the other Liam Fuji next autumn, as well as the newly opened nearby hotel C&C.

From the window, the Asahikawa view was so beautiful I couldn't stop looking. The second-floor bathroom and sink had a stylish feel, quite a contrast with the warm, welcoming first floor. The spacious living room gets so much natural light it feels almost like being outdoors. I also loved the grand staircase and the cleverly designed doors. Renting out the whole hotel made it a special way to enjoy some private time in a place that's more than just art to look at.

The stairs made moving around a bit difficult, but the unusual use of space, from the staircase design to the high ceilings, made for a cozy, comfortable stay. Being right in the heart of Okayama was great for sightseeing, including Korakuen Garden, and I'd stay again on a return visit.

It was clean and comfortable, with an interesting space, in a quiet spot where Liam Fuji sits peacefully. I'd seen comments about the stairs, and yes, getting around was challenging. But when I thought of it as part of the artwork, it didn't feel like too much trouble.
