The room, the thermal-water onsen, and dinner are all things I’ll remember fondly. We got to experience traditional life here, and Kanami gave us the best service we could imagine. We’re very grateful. Thank you.

The local Fukushima ingredients and carefully chosen local sake are a lovely part of dinner, alongside the beautiful creative cooking. The inn sits in nature at the foot of Mt. Adatara and has a Taisho-era romantic feel, though the building dates to the early Showa era. Guest rooms share a calm, tasteful look. If you want the feeling of having the place to yourself, the special rooms with open-air baths are recommended.

Our suite was huge, with an old-school Japanese charm. The sleeping area was separate from the dining room, linked by hallways, and the shower was outside beside the onsen, which made sense with the bath right there. I’m glad we booked the fancy room with its private outdoor onsen. It made for a wonderfully relaxing night. Dinner and breakfast were included, showcased local foods, and were so generous I could barely finish. We’ll definitely come back on our next trip to Japan.

The food was fantastic, and the onsen was incredible. The staff were super sweet too!

Quiet spaces and the care people put into things are what make this inn appealing. It may not suit someone looking for obvious luxury, but I liked the relaxed feel. Flowers and small decorations are scattered around, and old things seem carefully looked after and still treasured. The place isn’t ornate, but someone with a good eye clearly takes care of it. The food wasn’t traditional kaiseki, with a few subtle Western touches. It’s not normally the kind of restaurant I’d pick, but I was glad I tried it. The dishes didn’t rely on flashy presentation or high-end ingredients. You could taste the care in each one, and the local ingredients came through beautifully. I thought the balance between the cooking and local flavors was excellent. There’s no front desk like at a typical inn. You walk into a shop and cafe area, with guest rooms farther back. The arrangement felt confusing at first, but it drew me into the inn’s atmosphere. The service also differs from that of a polished first-class hotel. Each staff member seemed to be working sincerely and diligently in their own way. I personally appreciated that warmth more than formality. If you’re after perfectly organized service, this may not be the place, but the way people work here can stay with you.
