For my couple of nights in Okayama, having a public bath was my main priority. I hadn't found the nearby hotel chains especially appealing until I came across Super Hotel. It turned out to be a real hidden gem. The hot spring was wonderful, and breakfast was incredible. The price was a little higher than similar hotels, probably because of NYE, but well worth it. There was a healthy organic spread with local items like Okayama peach curry. Best of all, they baked fresh bread in the hotel kitchen during breakfast. In the evening the dining area's 'Welcome Bar' was great. Most guests brought takeout and mixed their own cocktails or highballs from the wide range of spirits, with almost everything except beer. Near reception, you can choose your pillow and amenities to help you sleep well. My first stay at Super Hotel was a perfect 10/10. Can't wait to return.

The public onsen was a nice extra, and the staff were warm and attentive. I also liked having Aeon Mall within walking distance, with its many places to eat. The room was genuinely good value for what it cost, so I'm giving it five stars. Free alcoholic drinks in the evening were another plus.

The small rooms are what you'd expect at a business hotel, so pack light. I still think it's a strong value for independent travelers: breakfast is included, and so are welcome drinks, including alcohol. It's close to Okayama station and Aeon, yet the area felt safe and quiet. After a long day, the Japanese Furo on the second floor was a good place to unwind. It stays open until 09:30 for anyone who likes a morning soak.

The one change I'd ask for is making the hot bath accessible to guests with tattoos. Aside from that, we loved our stay. The breakfast was excellent, and the welcome drinks were a nice extra. A woman at the front desk was especially helpful and even called a restaurant to make a booking for us.

The welcome bar's plum wine was amazing, and I found the hot spring relaxing and comfortable. Our room was very clean, and breakfast was delicious too. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return.
