Jr West Group Via Inn Okayama

I stayed alone for three nights in a non-smoking room of 13 tsubo, approximately 3.3 square meters. It was comfortable, and the lobby had self-service amenities, plus a microwave and luggage scale. I could leave my bags at the front desk before check-in and after check-out. The hotel's in the same building as Okayama Station, with the GU (Guest Railway) downstairs. From the elevator it's under a three-minute walk to the JR or Shinkansen platforms, very handy for both commuters and visitors. I highly recommend it.

The hotel's location is excellent, right beside the train station, and the room was small but sufficient. Toiletries and other amenities were available in the lobby. The rest of the stay was good, but the first interaction left a bad impression. When we arrived around 11am, a man sternly told us check-in was after 3pm. We knew it was early and only wanted to leave our hand luggage and show our passports. When we came back around 2, another staff member saw us on the guest couches and asked if she could help. She also explained check-in wasn't until 3, but did it in a friendly way. That first impression really affects the experience, so I probably wouldn't recommend staying here. Maybe try the nearby gran via.

The room turned out much bigger than I expected, and everything was very clean. I really appreciated the daily cleaning and fresh towels. The staff were so friendly too. I'd never stayed in a hotel inside a station before, and the convenience has completely won me over. I hope I can return to Okayama and stay here again someday. ☺️

Right at the station, so the location is hard to beat for a one-night stop. The room was clean, but space was very limited and felt cramped. The amenities and service were nothing special. A decent, average option if location matters more to you than comfort.
