The room was fine, though the toilet felt small and dated. The pool and onsen were also on the small side, and the gym was disappointing: no windows, little space, and no free weights. Parking costs 1800 yen per day. What stood out most was breakfast. This is rated a 5-star hotel, but breakfast was served in a 3-star multipurpose hall, in a quiet corner instead of beside the lobby as I'd expected. The restaurant near the lobby seemed to be for paying customers or perhaps higher-tier guests. The difference in breakfast setup felt glaring and distasteful. Food in the hall was just okay, and the setup made it chaotic. They only had prepared drip coffee, not a bean-grinding machine like even a 3-star hotel can have.

Breakfast was okay, though the dining area was very crowded. Lunch was nice and good value at the buffet. The staff were very kind and helped when he had plane cancellations.

I stayed for three days with my family. One night, when we got back from dinner, our room door had been left unlocked. We didn't need a room key to use the lift, so anyone could get to our floor without access restrictions. It was frightening, and I couldn't sleep the following nights.

We booked a superior twin smoking room nine months ahead, but on arrival were told it wasn't available and nothing could be done. At first they said the reservation didn't specify smoking, but we showed that it did. The customer service felt poor, with no effort to make things right. To make matters worse, the room had mold in the washroom and rock-hard beds. At $200cad / night, it really wasn't worth the money, and I was very disappointed. The hotel contacted us the next day and offered a smoking room without mold. It took a day to sort out, but they apologized and gave us a partial refund as a goodwill gesture, so I'm adding a star for that belated service.
