GUESTHOUSE minami - Hostel

I was able to book at short notice, and they were flexible and helpful. The place is new, clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. There's laundry, and although it's a bit away from the town center, you can borrow bikes for free. The Setouchi Town Library and Local History Museum are an easy walk away. There's hot water available, though I wish there had been a kitchen. The snorkeling and other trips on their own boat were very satisfying, too.

The staff kept the whole day running smoothly, and their hospitality was lovely. The showers, boats, and snorkeling gear were all very clean, which made the outing comfortable. We were out all day and visited lots of spots. Every place felt different, from huge coral reefs and little fish in schools to caves, so the trip stayed interesting right to the end. We also tried SUP, fishing, a swing set over the water on the boat, and jumping into the sea from the boat roof. There was something for everyone, from people after Instagram-worthy photos to active families and parents with kids who wanted plenty of snorkeling.

Minami was so helpful when we ran into problems, and even went out of her way to buy detergent when we were running low. I really appreciated how willing she was to look after her guests. The guesthouse had wonderful hospitality, and I'll stay here again when I visit Amami Oshima.

I joined one of their snorkeling trips again 🐟 Last time they were so kind and easy to talk to, and I had such a good time that now I only want to go with them whenever I'm in Amami 🙌 They explain clearly which areas have high waves or strong currents, and they're incredibly kind to families with children as well as to my husband and me. It's my favorite tour, and I always leave feeling safe and happy. Thanks as always 🏝 They also have SUP and drone photography, and take lots of pictures for you.
