We spent four nights here on our first Okinawa trip. The 91-square-meter "rock side" room had a washer and dryer at no extra charge, plus a cat-feet bathtub, which made the hot, humid weather easier to handle. The hotel is in Koza, near the center of Okinawa. Around the nearby U.S. military base, there are lively drinking spots frequented by U.S. soldiers and small restaurants open 24 hours. If you're renting a car, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a fun, unusual place, with eclectic art, a kitchen, free washer and dryer, claw-foot tub, and even board games for kids. It's more like an apartment than a hotel. Check-in is at the bar downstairs, where you pick up your key, rather than at a regular front desk. Several nice bars are nearby, so it works well if you want to go out, though the closest convenience store is a taxi ride away. The owner or manager told me my Rockside room used to be a barber shop, which explains some of the unusual layout, including the strange bathroom sink. You'll see what I mean.

There are loads of restaurants and places to hang out nearby, and Players cafe is an easy walk for winding down at the end of the night. The room is never far away. Such an amazing, unique place to stay.
