The hospitality from Sheesa and Kuwa was the best part of our five nights in the Biei area this January. My friend Gordon and I felt like family. If I could rate Ronenai Base seven stars, I would. It's also conveniently placed for skiing at Asahidake Mountain and sightseeing in Biei and Asahikawa. We started each cold day with a healthy breakfast, then came back in the evening to a delicious, health-conscious four-course dinner. The wood-fired sauna and hot tub with cold plunge are available at night, and that's where you shower. Shared toilets on each floor were never an issue. Sheesa and Kuwa also gave us great photography tips. I loved hearing their stories and sharing ours, and would return without hesitation.

The sauna was a highlight, clean, excellent, and really relaxing. The facilities were beautiful and well cared for, and the whole hotel was spotless and comfortable. The hosts were charming and attentive, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We had a wonderful stay and the place exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for a warm, pleasant, memorable visit.

We stayed at Ronenai for two off-season nights to see the flower fields and Daisetsuzan National Park. It was the most amazing stay we had in Japan. Sheesa and the other hosts were warm and welcoming. The house is cozy, quaint, and tastefully decorated, with plenty of comfortable seats in the dining and lounge area. I enjoyed browsing the snowboarding and surfing books and memorabilia, and we slept really well in our comfortable room. After long days hiking and exploring central Hokkaido, we looked forward to the sauna and bathing room. Heating the hot tub and sauna with wood stoves filled the space with a lovely cedar and Japanese pine scent, and made it a relaxing place to unwind. We're hoping to stay here again in winter.

After a full day cycling, I stayed one night at Ronenai before carrying on around Hokkaido. The owners were warm and welcoming, and the place was so peaceful. My room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows. Dinner and breakfast were Japanese-style, delicious, and nourishing for active days. The wooden sauna was the biggest surprise. As someone from Finland who appreciates a proper sauna, I thought it had everything, including some great Löyly. I'd love to come back! :)

The owners couldn't have been kinder, and the sauna with cold plunge was wonderful after a long hike. We had a fantastic two-night stay and ate some of our favorite food in Japan here. Everything they served was local, healthy, and delicious. Highly recommend!
