The playful parts of the meal, including moments when children could help create a dish, made this a warm and memorable family experience. We dined at Il Gastro Sara while in Okinawa and found its French and Okinawan fine-dining combination distinctive. The chef clearly cares about the craft, and the dishes were thoughtfully presented. For me, the appeal is the creativity and technique more than big, bold flavors, so the price may not feel worthwhile to everyone. Curious diners who enjoy an original, slower meal may appreciate it more than people looking for a traditional fine-dining wow factor.
