Hiyori Ocean Resort Okinawa

We spent three nights here and came away feeling completely relaxed. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, with basic kitchenware and a pour-over coffee set. I made breakfast there and enjoyed the sea view from the window, without having to wash up and go out to eat. The large public bath had a fantastic view too, and the sunset performance outside the lobby was awesome. One of my most enjoyable staycations lately.

The evening front desk representative was professional, helpful, and accommodating. Check-in was efficient, and the facilities were well maintained and fairly up to date. But the noise in our room really took away from the stay. It sounded like workers or long-term guests on the 5th and 6th floors started their day around 6:30 a.m. We could clearly hear loud, sustained noise from neighboring rooms, including doors closing and kitchen cabinets banging. At times it sounded like construction was happening next door. The floors are concrete covered with linoleum, so chairs scraping back from tables made a very loud, disturbing dragging sound. Once the room cleaning crew started, it got even noisier. Our room also wasn’t cleaned at all, not even with the eco cleaning. The noise definitely affected how much we enjoyed the stay.

The deck and pool area were great, and it stayed pleasantly cool until early afternoon rather than getting too sunny and hot. This was a highlight of my Okinawa trip. The place is very family friendly, and I’d encourage people to stay at Hiyori resort. If I owned a resort, I’d model it on this one. The staff treated us kindly and respectfully the whole time. They were polite, professional, attentive, and seemed very aware of what guests needed. Room service was fantastic, and the amenities were five-star. It may be the cleanest hotel I’ve seen in decades. I ran my finger over surfaces and barely found a speck of dust. We only had one meal. It wasn’t bad, though it didn’t quite match the rest of the experience. I should have tried breakfast or other entrees, so it’s not really fair to judge the food on one meal.

The restaurants served really good food at fair prices, and the room had thoughtful extras everywhere. There were two kinds of pillows, all the charging cords you might need, and even a curling iron alongside the hair dryer. The kitchen was stocked for cooking, with coffee and tea too, and the washer came with everything needed for laundry. The staff were incredibly warm, especially the housekeeping team, who were more considerate than I’ve experienced even at top hotels. I’d love to come back.
