We loved the big sento, and sharing the bathroom was no problem at all. Our room was quite spacious, with its own washbasin and toilet. The inn is an old house, so it gets cold in winter and the doors are very thin, but watching the snowy garden was lovely despite the chill. It’s a beautiful town, and the ryokan itself is clean, well kept, and nicely decorated. The owner was kind and unobtrusive. Our room was tidied each day, and we were left hot water in a thermos and local treats. This is a lovely place if you like quiet, traditional surroundings. We couldn’t find a restaurant to book for January 1, so we asked the owner if we could have dinner there. He kindly agreed, and it was a real feast, with fish, pork, crab, vegetables, and rice. The pork came in a nabe, and dinner was served in a beautiful room. It’s great to see people working hard to keep traditional places like this going. Thank you, Please keep up the good work。

The staff were lovely and very accommodating, and the private bath, which fits up to two people, was well equipped and super relaxing. The rooms were beautiful and roomy, with a sitting area, tea, TV, and AC. A really nice stay.

The Japanese food here was fantastic, and the quality made the higher price feel fine. The rooms and hall are fully air-conditioned, the reception responds quickly, and security is good. Honestly, it feels like heaven, not just a hotel. No need to think twice about staying here 😘

I booked by phone using basic Japanese because I don’t like using Booking.com and similar sites. The reception takes cash or PayPay, but there are no credit cards accepted on site. The guest house is lovely, near the castle and other historic streets and buildings, with views from the rooms and dining area over a traditional garden. Dinner and breakfast are available, and our traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent. There’s free parking nearby, and restaurants, a cafe, and a combini are all within walking distance. A lovely stay in a lovely town.

The shared facilities were well looked after, the rooms were excellent, and the location was good. I fell asleep to frogs croaking. A very nice stay all round.
