Our room had a lovely view over the water, and I’d stay here again. The location is handy for the train station, main shopping and dining street, temple walk, and the ferry for the Shimanami Kaido. The rooms are clean and pleasant, even if the accommodations are fairly basic. The top floor lounge has a nice view, though there aren’t many other amenities. There always seemed to be lots of people at the front desk without much to do, which felt a little odd. Staff didn’t speak much English, if that matters to you, but I don’t count it against them. They were fairly helpful when we shipped our luggage to our next stop. Paying for that service in cash only was a bit inconvenient, though I was glad they offered it.

I especially enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. It came as a set rather than a buffet, but there was a good variety and everything tasted delicious. My room was a little old and small, though clean and cozy, and I was happy to have a sea view. I had a pleasant one-night stay here. It’s about a 14-minute walk from Onomichi Station. From Shin-Onomichi, you can take a taxi or bus to Onomichi Station. The market was closed during my visit, but I still enjoyed wandering around. Already missing Onomichi 💙

Really good value for a stay while doing the Shimanami Kaido. It’s a little farther from the ferry and bike rentals, but the price is hard to beat. The service was great too. I left a bag full of change behind at checkout and they had it ready for me. They also held my luggage after I checked out.

I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. I did have a good dinner at the restaurant, and the luggage shipping service for the Shimanami Kaido was smooth and friendly. Other places listed for this service only offer it to overnight guests.
