Izumi-So

My girlfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary, and we loved the stay. The family has owned the property for over 50 years, and the hosts were incredibly kind. It was the authentic omotenashi ryokan experience we’d hoped for. Our traditional room was spacious and comfortable. The indoor and outdoor onsen were spectacular, with just the right temperature for a relaxing soak at the start and end of the day. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious, and the fancy massage chair was a nice extra. I can’t recommend it enough.

Everyone I spoke with on staff was friendly and helpful, and they all spoke English too. The room was really nice, the food was fantastic, and the onsen was so relaxing. Had a great stay at izumi-so!

It’s a great place to get a feel for traditional Japanese ryokan culture. The accommodation isn’t especially spacious or luxurious, but it has what you need for that experience. The public bath is modest in size, yet plenty good for enjoying Gero’s hot springs. What really stands out is the staff’s kindness. The host lady’s English was better than at any other Japanese accommodation I visited, so communication was no problem. From check-in through meals and checkout, the hospitality was excellent. Highly recommended.

A small, traditional ryokan with just a few rooms, and the rooms are large, clean, and Japanese-style. I haven’t had a better room for this price. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding, comforting traditional Japanese meals after a long day. The onsen water felt so smooth, and even though the bath was small, it was cozy and lovely. Since the place itself isn’t big, I never ran into anyone there. I had the whole onsen to myself! The staff were very, very friendly and caring, and a few spoke English really well. I had such a nice time here. Hope you give it a try and enjoy it too. It's an excellent ryokan.. Stay here without hesitation!!
