The room was noisy all six nights. We were put on the side facing the train line, and I never got a proper night’s sleep. If you’re sensitive to noise, make sure to ask for the other side. When I asked to move, the staff were rude. They said we should check room availability ourselves and that the hotel was sold out. I understand rooms may have been full, but they knew we’d traveled a long way with a toddler and still gave us a loud room. They also seemed to know we couldn’t simply cancel and get our money back. Cleanliness was just as bad. I asked twice to make sure the room would be clean when we arrived, but there was hair all over the carpet and dust behind and under the sofa and bed. We’d traveled 25 hours from Europe with a toddler who likes exploring, and this was not the kind of dirtiness we expected. When we asked for it to be cleaned, they ignored us and said we could do it ourselves because there was a vacuum cleaner. Absurd. Check-in was a whole quest of instructions and PIN codes to remember, a disaster without Wi-Fi. There was no registration or person to talk to, just Booking or a phone number. They seemed to assume we’d have a SIM card and mobile data on arrival. Wi-Fi only worked in the room, so when we arrived without a connection, we couldn’t figure out how to open the doors. At least provide Wi-Fi in the hallway when there’s no staff around.
