Chateau Minamisenba

The location is good, and there's coin laundry nearby. I had a very big room with two double beds, a coffee table, and chairs, but the washroom had no extra space at all. The highway is right beside the hotel, so I'd turn on the air conditioner to block the noise. Otherwise, cars make it very noisy in the middle of the night.

The location was convenient, near two subway stations, and the room was spacious. Most staff, especially the girls, were friendly and helpful. That's about where the good parts ended. The beds were so hard I had to buy an airbed, and the couch felt like sitting on bricks. We found couch cushions locally for less than 5,000 yen, which would have made it comfortable after a long day exploring, but after paying for the airbed I wasn't spending more on cushions. The carpet and couch were stained. The bedding was clean, but the towels were stained too. The fridge was broken and froze everything regardless of the setting. There was a 5,500 check-in fee. We declined room service every 3 days, but were only given two towels for the two of us. Supplies such as toilet paper, towels, and coffee were put out sparingly, if we were lucky enough to get them. Otherwise we had to wait until afternoon or evening to ask for toilet paper, fresh towels, or even a clean bathmat. The bathroom layout meant I hit my head on the wall when sitting on the toilet, and I'm only 5ft 3. There was about a meter of wasted space at the end of the bed that could have gone toward the bathroom. The tub was tiny, with my knees up under my chin, and the overflow was halfway up, so I could only get water over my bottom and ankles. I've stayed in Japan before and understand small rooms and bathrooms. I don't mind when they're comfortable and well supplied, but this place felt more about money than people. It was too uncomfortable, and I wouldn't return.

The accommodation was neat and spacious, and I had a comfortable trip. It's a little far from Dendentown, but being away from the tourist attractions gave me a chance to feel Japanese daily life. I enjoyed jogging at dawn, visiting a nearby mart, and doing some grocery shopping. The hotel staff were kind, too. Thank you.

The room was a decent size for Japan, and the location worked great. They had toiletries, coffee and tea, plus a vending machine in the lobby. But the carpet smelled awful and was really dirty. The sofa bed is wood, so don't count on using it. I'd stay again if they got rid of the carpets.
