Heart of Shinsaibashi Apartment

For the price, it’s pretty good. The rooms are a bit small, but that’s expected.

It’s a quiet area, good for getting a peaceful night’s sleep, and there are shopping spots like Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi nearby. The metro station is convenient too, about a five-minute walk from the hostel. The main problem during our eight nights was the Wi-Fi. It showed a signal but never connected, and there was no Wi-Fi for the whole stay. They gave us canned coffees as compensation, but the inconvenience was really upsetting. The toilets weren’t cleaned properly, the bins were always full, and towels weren’t changed each day unless we asked.

As female travelers, we didn’t feel very safe here, so I can’t recommend the place. Male guests hung around drinking by the main entrance at night and were loud. The front door was left ajar, making the lock useless and allowing anyone in. Our bedroom door didn’t line up with its frame, so it took a few tries to lock it. With no staff around, we didn’t feel comfortable asking noisy guests in the corridor to quiet down. Nothing actually happened to us, but at times we didn’t feel secure. The private room itself was clean and compact, with disposable slippers, a kettle, fluffy towels, and a hair dryer.

We rented the whole private room for three of us, with four bunks available. The beds were fun and sturdy, and each bunk had its own light, little shelf, and plug. The bathrooms were very clean and the staff were nice. It’s close to Dotonbori, and I’d stay here again.
