Hostel Nagayado Osaka

Every morning we were served a tasty, filling Japanese-style breakfast. The hostel is small, cozy, and beautifully designed, and it’s inexpensive. The hosts’ English wasn’t very strong, but they were kind and patient, and we managed with simple words and Google Translate. Highly recommended.

The homemade breakfast was delicious, and I’d definitely stay here again if I get the chance to return to Osaka. It was very quiet, perhaps because it was a weekday and there weren’t many other guests. The staff were incredibly kind, explained everything thoroughly, and gave excellent service. I felt relaxed, almost as if I were visiting a relative’s home.

They serve Pakistani-style curry at this pop-up restaurant, along with three or four side dishes. It’s waterless chicken curry, and the meat has a tender, fibrous texture that’s unusual but interesting. The flavor is concentrated and delicious, and it’s quite spicy with plenty of spice; mixing in raita cools it down, while the sides let you change the flavor. Rice comes in regular, large, or extra-large portions, and you can add vegetables. Lassi is available. I think they used to serve beer, but I’m not sure if they still do. There are five or six counter seats. They were runner-up in the local curry category at the Ultimate Curry 2021 competition, and I think they’ll only get more popular.
