Getting to Universal Studios Japan is convenient from HOTALU Universal Vacation - Kan, and the place is calm, away from busy Namba. My room was roomy and spotless for the affordable rate, and the host replied quickly when I had questions. Check-in went smoothly, and having elevators was handy with luggage. The walk to Chidoribashi, the nearest train station, takes about 15-20 minutes, which could be tough with heavy bags or limited mobility. Mornings can also get noisy while staff clean rooms, so that may bother light sleepers. A decent budget pick if you want space and cleanliness.

The place was clean and tidy, though having to use the first-floor washing machine instead of one in the room was a bit inconvenient. I came for Universal Studios Japan, and the station directions included photos, which made finding my way easy even though I'm not great with maps. A takoyaki shop on the route was still open around 9pm, and the food was delicious. From the 79 Konohana Ward Office bus stop, about a three-minute walk away, the Sakurajima 2-chome East bus took around 20 minutes to reach Universal Studios Japan.

It felt like staying in an apartment: the room had a kitchen with pots, pans and dishes, plus a microwave, toaster and fridge. There were no seasonings, though. The place was clean, roomy and comfortable. Since check-in is unmanned there was no in-person service, so I'd give that one star, but the instructions arrived by email ahead of the day and were clear. There's a paid parking lot nearby, so parking wasn't a concern. I'd stay again.

The room was clean, spacious and warm with the heater on, and I could relax in the quiet neighborhood. Bus #79 gets you to Universal in about 20 minutes, and there's a 7-Eleven right next door. The street is a little dark at night, but I didn't feel unsafe. When I called with questions in English, they were helpful. You need to get your room key from the key box beside the door. A nice place to stay for a Universal visit.
