Hotel Mystays Shin Osaka Conference Center

The staff and location were excellent, but the hotel itself was in atrocious shape, apart from maybe the lobby and outside. Our twin room was small even for a Japanese business hotel. The sheets were stained, and there was mold in the room, as shown in the photos. I could have lived with the stained sheets, but the mold was too much and we checked out after one night. The AC barely worked. I'm not very picky about hotel rooms, but this was too much.

The room was hygienic, the service was good, and the amenities were decent. The breakfast buffet was nice enough too. Rooms were extremely small, though, and the bathroom barely had any space. The location was very close to shin osaka station, but not near any major tourist attractions.

The front desk staff were very friendly, but I couldn't sleep at all and left after one night instead of the five planned. The room was extremely dirty, with broken furniture, mold and dust smells, stained sheets with hair and other filth, and wallpaper peeling in several places. The bathroom also had visible mold, and the air conditioning kept switching on by itself, even at night. Soundproofing was awful too. You could hear the subway passing every five minutes, even late at night. I paid 314CHF for five nights, and the quality was poor for such a high price. A complete scam. Absolutely avoid.

We were able to flag down a taxi outside just as we were leaving, after the front desk couldn't get through to local taxi companies because the lines were tied up. They'd suggested going to the Shin Osaka station taxi stand, so getting one outside was easier than we expected. My family and I stayed five days a couple of weeks ago. An unfortunate emergency meant we couldn't get out and enjoy much of Osaka, but the hotel felt comforting during that time, and the staff were understanding and friendly. It seemed popular with foreigners, or maybe that was because of the Osaka EXPO event during our stay. There were people talking in all kinds of languages through the night. Some nights there was constant talking and doors opening and closing on one floor, while other nights were fairly quiet. Guests seemed to book for just a night or so, so it felt like luck whether your neighbors were a party crowd.
