FL Hotel Dotonbori

Dotonbori is less than a five-minute walk away, so the location is quite strategic. The room was okay and reasonably clean, though a bit small, and the nearest MRT station still requires a short walk. Reception service was good, and the staff were helpful.

We spent five nights at FL Hotel Dotonbori and had a good time. It suited us as budget-conscious travelers who still wanted comfort and convenience. Free bread, coffee, and drinks were a nice extra, and saved us both time and money in the morning. Nearby shopping centers are within walking distance, so getting around was easy. A handy, affordable base in Osaka.

Housekeeping was another letdown. We stayed five nights but were told they’d only clean the room on the fourth night. The quiet location didn’t help either, since there’s little nearby apart from a 7-Eleven. Kuromon Market is about a ten-minute walk away. Most of all, the bed was unbelievably small. I know hotel rooms in Japan tend to be small, but this felt more like a single than a proper double. My boyfriend and I had to sleep carefully every night because even a little movement made us feel like we could fall off. With the limited cleaning, small bed, and few nearby facilities, we weren’t comfortable here.

There are some sketchy places around the hotel, though it’s in a very central location. The rooms are much more spacious than at other hotels in Japan, and the free breakfast of two bakery pieces plus coffee was a nice gesture. Apart from the area nearby, we had a good stay, and the quality for the price was quite good.
