Kaneyoshi Ryokan

Being right downtown was a real plus, with loads of places to eat, drink, and shop nearby. The staff were friendly, and I loved the traditional room and the view over the canal. Having free tea and coffee downstairs was a nice extra.

You step out into the busy streets of Dotonbori, but once inside the Ryokan it gets much quieter. The owner and staff were very friendly, and the clean rooms were a nice size. The small Sento upstairs was relaxing after a long day in Osaka. Great location, and I'd stay again.

They helped us arrange delivery of our luggage to our next hotel in Tokyo, which made the trip much easier. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and everything was spotless with all the things we needed. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. I'd happily come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Osaka.

The hotel itself was great, but the staff we dealt with were extremely rude and dishonest. At check-in, the receptionist said the door closes at 1 a.m. and guests can't get in after that. When I asked if there was any way to enter, he told me that if I didn't like it, I could come back at 6 a.m. I then asked about same-day baggage delivery, and he raised his voice to say they didn't offer it. I had to tell him to calm down. At checkout, we left our luggage there to collect later. When we returned, they demanded 500¥ per bag because it was after 5 p.m. Nobody had told us about that when we left the bags. The receptionist got angry, tore the tag off aggressively, and said, “Get out!” Disgraceful. Why work in tourism in one of Osaka's most visited areas if you can't speak to people respectfully?
