Hotel Lantana Osaka

Please check the policies before booking. Free cleaning is offered only three days a week, which seems really unusual. There’s no water bottle in the room, and it stays cold even with all the doors shut. Checkout is 10 am rather than the usual 11 am, and they charge 880 yen for being 40 minutes late.

The hotel was tidy and very clean, with a comfortable room, nice bathroom, and friendly staff. It’s roomy by Japan standards. There’s no breakfast, but we found a great little Cafe within a five-minute walk. It’s a bit out of the way, which also keeps things quiet. I could’ve used more storage for bags.

After a 24-hour journey, this was an extremely unfair and disrespectful mess. Our flight was delayed, so we’d arrive in Osaka a day late for a three-night booking. While we were on the airport bus, the hotel messaged us through Booking to say not to come because they had no space. We tried to understand why and were told that missing the first night meant they cancelled the booking but still charged the full stay. After several messages, someone offered another room at a much higher price, so we booked a different hotel that was much cheaper. Then, while we were unpacking there, another message arrived saying they did have a room after all and wouldn’t charge extra. None of this was handled properly. We lost the money for all three nights and had to pay for another place too. Booking said it couldn’t help because this was hotel policy. I don’t understand why they kept the full payment while taking away our chance to stay the other two nights.

The rooms are huge by Asian standards, and the staff were very helpful. The location is decent, though not perfect: you have to take a train to reach the metro, but they run every few minutes and cost just 170 yen per person. Don Quijote is a three-minute walk away, and there are lots of restaurants nearby with friendly people.
